Guitar rig not showing in the vst for me to use

When I opened sonar platinum after installing Komplete audio 6, sonar scanned for new plugins then a message came up saying a .dll wanted to connect to the internet. I hit the cancel button then more of the same messages popped up but I said yes to those .dll connecting because I realized it was Native instruments .dlls.

Now all my other native instruments appear in the vst list but not guitar rig vst plugin, I even see guitar rig pop up when I do a manual rescan so I know cakewalk is seeing it but it never shows in the list for me to use. Also I have guitar rig  working in ableton lite on the same computer so I think It's could be me refusing that first time to let the .dll contact the internet. Any way to get around this or ideas on how to get GR working.

Thanks for any help,

Roland M

Guitar Rig is an audio FX plug-in that emulates a guitar amplifier/speaker and effects. It is not a synth. It can use MIDI to control its parameters. To setup an audio FX plug-in to accept MIDI data select "Enable MIDI Input" in the VST2/3 drop down in the standard header above the plug-in UI. Then add a MIDI track to route MIDI data to the plug-in. This is documented in the To enable VST MIDI input and output ports section near the bottom of this page

I got guitar rig working as a audio plugin but it does not show up as a soft synth so this is either a bug or changed behavior which to my knowledge is undocumented.

I don't know why you have that link on scooks reply saying this solves my problem as it does not. Further more Cakewalks documentation and the knowledge base and even videos on you tube are outdated as to how to find guitar rig in the current sonar platinum (the outdated videos on you tube show it installed as a soft synth) as usual no help from cakewalk tech and cakewalk even bungled the install of this plugin by not providing any answers except the one above which does not solve the problem. I hope this post can help others who have a similar problem as this knowledge at least lets one find and use Gr.

Moreover cakewalk should contact native instruments and tell them that this is where to find guitar rig now if this changed behavior and should be in your documentation and on the web.

Thanks,

Ok I found out what is going on by looking in the other plugin types and folders. This must be a bug because I found that sonar is installing the Guitar rig into audio fx and not as a vst instrument now I can't use it and is there a fix for this?

Thanks for the quick reply but I already tried that and tried it a few times more. I even see the guitar rig .dll being scanned it just doesn't show up in the vst lists anywhere while all the other vsts from native instruments do. It must have to do with the cancel of that first time scan on the guitar rig .dll it must be locked or blocked. It works perfectly in ableton lite. Any other ideas from cakewalk staff anyone?

Go into SONAR Preferences > File > VST Settings

Change the Scan Options drop down to "Manual Scan"

Select "Rescan Failed Plugins"

Click the Scan button

Deselect "Rescan Failed Plugins"

Change "Manual Scan" back to your preferred setting.
